on my laptop running windows Xp sp3 just before the "low battery" bubble comes up the whole computer crashes then I need to plug it in and restart (by holding the power button)

That's not really a question. Post your laptop's specification and manufacturer. It would be useful in finding the problem.

the laptop is a LG LW70 Express (windows XP professional SP3)
