View Full Version : DVD playback volume is lower than TV or AVI playback

My Myth box is attached to some Logitech 5.1 speakers via RCA/Phono connectors. This works very well when watching TV or AVI's. I can control the volume level with the remote, mute etc.

However when I playback a DVD (a proper one not a rip'd version) the volume level is approximately half that of TV viewing. To get around this I have to crank the volume right up on the Logitech unit, it's usually at half but I increase it to three quarters when watching a DVD.

I've had a look at the sound levels with alsamixer and that's all ok.

I'm using the 'internal' method for DVD playback as opposed to VLC or XINE.

Any ideas?

Could it just be the level DVDs are recorded at?
