I am just hoping that there is something I can do about this. It took me about 4 hours to install everything. Everything else works great I guess. I can move around the menus, look at the server list, and even try to launch a game. It just always pops up with this DirectX issue.

I would really like to be able to play games on this system (since its the more powerful of my two) but it looks like games + linux = :(

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Whilst its possible to get Steam and the latest source games working in Wine if you get it running if you hit 4fps then you have done very well.

Cedega (winex) got an almost complete re-write inorder to get it to run HL2 and CS:source as well as it does (which swings from terrible to almost 100%).

Possibly the best bet if you want run CS:s HL2 etc without paying for Cedega would be to goto www.transgaming.com and down load the csv sources they have there (there not the most current and the non gpl sections are removed) these are available for free and possibly a better option. But your mileage my vary.

I was just hoping that it would be something as simple as me editing a start up file so that it doesn't check for DirectX. :(

I guess it really doesnt matter if I get it to work or not. It was more of a learning experience than anything else. I wanted to see if I could do it. I guess it means that I can do it--wine can't.

I don't even like CS:S :p
