Hello All,
I was wondering if anyone could give me any kind of advice on how easy to achieve (or possible) this idea of mine is:
(If this looks like too much to read, try just the underlined sentence at the end)
I currently have a dual-boot system set up. WinXP on one partition, Ubuntu Hardy (8.04) on the other. My primary OS is Ubuntu and XP is just there for when I occasionally need to use windows only software or when I am away from a power supply as I still cannot get proper power management from Linux on my laptop.
Before the dual-boot set up Iused to run a virtual winXP machine, but for certain things the virtualization overhead became too much for my low-spec machine. Since I moved to the dual-booting set up I miss having to reboot to access windows. If I wanted a virtual version of XP the only way I can see to do it is to install a 3rd copy of an operating system on my hard drive. Is there any way to set up a way of booting a 'virtual machine', but instead of using the 'virtual drives' that VirtualBox uses use the pre-existing XP installation on my other partition.
Thanks for reading,
I tried to keep the balance between babble and background information right.
