Yo Ubuntu Forums,
Over the last few days ive been experimenting with linux distros on my macbook and really enjoy 8.10 in general. However, while everything for the most part works great, I cant seem to get any stability when it comes to suspending my notebook. Sometimes the macbook will wake up and the graphics will be screwy, with little dashes everywhere i.e.

|- - - - - - - -|- - - - - - - -|
|- - - - - - - -|- - - - - - - -|
|- - - - - - - -|- - - - - - - -|
|- - - - - - - -|- - - - - - - -|
|- - - - - - - -|- - - - - - - -|

and sometimes it will slow everything down to a crawl and make my keyboard inputs doubled. Restarting the x serv doesnt fix the problem either, so im wondering if this is a common problem with an easy fix?

Also, is there any definitive answer as to if the macbook and 8.10 is succeptable to the high load cycle problem?

Would either of these problems be allievated from prehaps a completely fresh install or an install of say the 64bit versions?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I cant seem to get any stability when it comes to suspending my notebook. Typical. Not really much you can do besides try different common fixes. unload load modules that might be causing your issue..

Can't comment here as you are the first person to make such a complaint here.

If you are talking about the hard drive laptop-mode thing, then no, I think it is turned off by default.

thank you for the reply. Can i ask what kinds of modules you unload to archive a sort of stable suspend? i would really like to continue to use ubuntu as my main OS, and getting this to work would seal the deal for me!

I don't suspend. There are many discussions here though on this. Common trouble-makers are wireless and graphics drivers.
