Hello Everybody,

I am planning to launch some on-line courses around Open Source software applications and came across this link http://www.techworld.com.au/article/223565/10_open_source_e-learning_projects_watch. The choice is quite considerable. What open source e-learning projects do you use and recommend? Any input appreciated.

We use Moodle, because it has almost everything we need to effectively manage our courses. Probably the only thing we are missing is a good videoconferencing module. We also tried eFront: it's easy but it lacks good cooperative learning tools. Another product you may want to try is Docebo, not mentioned in the link you provided but still good especially for business environments.

There are online "trial" sites for most of these.

Try them out and decide.

I decided dokeos was the best mix of features vs usability / server use.

Moodle is probably most popular in the higher education world.

My university uses moodle, but I hardly ever use it myself. From what I have seen however it seems to work well.
