Got a new USB turntable, which came with a piece of proprietary software for Windows and Macs, and also a recommendation for Audacity. I installed Wine using Adept, plugged the turntable into the wall and the USB port, and plopped a record on it. TI have Audacity configured to the point where it does in pact get audio from the turntable, can record it, and play it back over the speakers, but the audio is incredibly staticy. I plugged headphones into the record player, and the sound that came over the headphones was nice and clean. However, the sound that Audacity records is incredibly staticy. I saved a track and played it with Amarok, where it also had the static.
The problem's not with the USB cord, because the turntable worked on an XP machine via USB, and also on an EEEpc with line-in audio recording.
Help would be greatly appreciated.
