Fallout 3 and compiling from source

So, I was just following the instructions at the following page - http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=14322 - but when I try to run winetricks or use wine, the application is not found on my computer.

I think I might just have compiled wine in to the wrong folder (the "Downloads" directory in my /home partition), but I'm not quite sure where I need to move it to. Any suggestions?

Any reason for compiling Wine yourself? It is in the repos.

Nevermind, just read you need to patch it.
