Hey, my Lenny install says "Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 host tty1" at the login screen, no longer "Debian GNU/Linux lenny/sid ..."... What, are they going to release Lenny soon? Has it been released in the shadows?

They are in a cat fight right now. Votes are in but looks like the secretary is resigning, others threatening to leave as well. I hope very soon because it's holding up good things. Like KDE4.2 can't be in because the soon to be obsolete/outperformed 4.1 is still in experimental. Kernel 2.6.28 might be released by xmas per Linus and it's still at 2.6.26. BTW I've been looking for more experimental kernels but no luck. I'm sure someone at Debian has to be looking at 2.6.28? or .27?

I hope and pray they will soon not because I'm going to use it but to get it out of the way. Debian/sid has always been stable to me plus KDE4.1 experimental.

Total number of release-critical bugs: 129
Number that have a patch: 43
Number that have a fix prepared and waiting to upload: 10
Number that are being ignored: 1
Number concerning the current stable release: 55
Number concerning the next release: 129

I'm guessing that the number of release critical bugs in Lenny will have to get down to around the number of release critical bugs in Etch before its released.

RC bugs status for testing, http://bugs.debian.org/release-critical/other/testing.html

people! it's ready now! i've been using it for 3 weeks without 1 glitch or hitch. it is more stable than other distros final releases. believe me, you won't have a problem. it is the best OS i've ever used. just download the weekly build and keep it updated. cheers.

+1. It's more stable by far than many distribution's final releases. Try it.

Also, reading material regarding the release:

I've been using testing since etch had one problem on one machine, otherwise it's been great.
