I have xubuntu 8.10 running on a dell inspiron 1000 laptop.
I cannot get it to work on an external monitor. pressing alt-f3 just makes the screen go blank for a second then it reappears on the laptop screen.
I have seen quite a few posts about dual screen config, but I don't want that, I just want the external monitor to be the display for this laptop.
Where do I start?
