connection problem

hi!
I`m new in ubuntu, so...don`t bee hard on me :)
I just set up ubuuntu 8.10 on my acer aspire one. I havve problem with internet... I cannot seem to connect to the wired network with Network Manager - it attempts to connect, the two blobs go green, then after a short while of trying to connect, it drops back to no network connection...

open a terminal (applications -> accessories->terminal)
type sudo lshw (it prompts for your pw)

post the results here,

then type ifconfig again enter results here.

Are you trying DHCP or static IP addressing from your router.
What kind of router do you have.
What make is your acer
