Hi. I have been using Ubuntu for 2 and half years and would like to try to attempt to go fully open source with my DVD making business. I take pictures, music, and video and then create movies that are then burned to DVD.

What I would like to know is what is the best programs for making my movies, and then how I can burn these disks so that they will play like any other DVD in a DVD player. Id prefer apps that were made for gnome and not KDE as they would be less likely to crash then. Thank you for any help in advance. Im using ubuntu 8.04 just to put that out there.

binbash

for dvd 9 to dvd 5 conversion, you can use dvdshrink under wine (yes it is the best solution, there are a couple of softwares that does this job, it is way BETTER)

for converting and burning movie files (avi mpeg etc) to DVD , best choice is devede or you can also try qdvdauthor http://www.getdeb.net/app/QDVDAuthor
