I'm desperately trying to get World of Warcraft to run in Ubuntu. I have the newest version, just got the CD's in the mail a few days ago, everything updated. Newest version of Wine installed. WoW updated and copyed from a Windows computer. I've changed the config.wtf file so that it runs in OpenGL, and I've tried the settings to fix the sound but with no luck. It runs smoothly, displays the log in screen. When i log it, it shows my character, and lets me load the world. but as soon as it is done loading, when I should be able to start playing, it just closes without an error. Anyone know any tips to get this to work?

it seems that 1.8.4 borked WoW with wine moreso than before

i was able to update from 1.8.3 after logging in, but now, my screen just goes black. i trie dthe wine in the repos (0.9.3 per the versioning, but wine only claims the release of 0.9.2). i also tried a customer-built wine 0.9.1 with some WoW patches

nothing

ugh, something happened to my filesystem or something, and i had to reinstall ubuntu. wine along with WoW too. so maybe i can get it back to the point where i was before. i will continue to search the web for solutions, or fool around on my own, and post anything that works. and ill wait for some wiz to come on here and solve my problems as well lol. its too bad i just started playing WoW again AND got my cds for ubuntu in the mail, for WoW to be patched into a unplayable state in Linux.
im using my laptop primarily for Ubuntu, until i get one of my harddrives back that i lent to my friend, so that i can install it in my desktop. It has a Radeon x800 Pro - compared to my GF FX 5200 Go in my laptop - so maybe ill get better results on a different system? (probably not). ive already signed that petition but i doubt blizzard will create a linux version, grrrr. n e ways ive been up for too long, eyes tired. ill keep hoping :???:
