Hi,
I'm thinking about getting a domain name for my machine registered through a free dynamic dns service.
I was hoping for some advice on the topic.

Free dynamic dns services: any recommendations on some good ones? Anything I should know about them?

I will only be hosting some personal items (deluge web client, mythweb), so I'm just going to run apache off my own machine.

Also, I'd like to make my entire site https, is there a way to do that globally in apache?

I like no-ip myself, but many people also use dyndns.

Nowadays it's so cheap to buy a real domain, why not, unless you can't get a static IP from your ISP?

Even a 'real' domain would be just as usable with a dynamic IP (the same dynamic DNS service providers usually support both).

I like zoneedit, but I also use dyndns with no issues.

Zoneedit has very cheap domain registration, and many routers have the client built in...

I have no advice for apache. I don't use it enough to give you good advice, though I can't see any reason you wouldn't be able to configure it for https only...

Of course! Just pointing it out for the OP... ;-)
