I have tried Ubuntu on different occasions over the years after becoming fed up with Windows. I would usually mess around with it for a few days and then end up going back to Windows because I didn't feel that I knew what I was doing. Finally that has all ended. With the help of this forum, I have been having a blast configuring this OS to just the way I want it. I am very impressed with my theme after spending hours trying to figure out what the hell Compiz or Emerald were and how they worked. So far my biggest accomplishment was configuring Conky and getting it to check my emails with the help of a guide on this forum. It's not much, but its a small step into doing other cool things I never knew were possible.

With that said, thank you to everyone who provides amazing support on these forums. Every question I have ever had has been found with search and answered in great detail. Also, I'd like to thank the Ubuntu team for this wonderful OS. I never knew I could have so much fun playing with a config file. :)

Hey, good for you and a big welcome ):P ubuntu is amazing.

it looks like youve been able accomplish everything you've needed through reading posts without posting, like myself (a testament to the great people in these forums). the one thing i could say is to feel free to post anytime, i was reluctant at first also; but this is the most friendly and helpful linux community IMO; make yourself heard anytime :guitar:

Glad your enjoying Ubuntu. ;)

I too just recently figured out how to get conky the way I wanted it and found myself actually having fun editing the conkyrc file. :p

Still, like many others, I still have to dual boot for my adobe suite and windows games. I hope that gap is bridged in the very near future.

At least Adobe expanded their support with Flash 10 for Linux x64. Perhaps someday Photoshop/Premiere/Dreamweaver/etc. will follow in its footsteps....

Never happen...those programs are some of the biggies keeping people using Windows. If they get ported to Linux, nobody will use Microsoft anymore...and old Bill Gates won't let that happen. He'd buy Adobe before he let Windows wind up in the **** heap it deserves to be in. :P

But I'm with you...I hope they all get ported over here. :)
