Isnt there a function on ubuntu 8.10 to encyprt folder and require password ?
i read somewhere about it, but never gotten anywhere in using it.

You could move it into someother weird folder in your / directory.

hiding it ... just do

$mv myfolder .myfolder

that should hide it

if you want to hide a file or folder all you have to do is rename the file/folder and put a period at the beginning. for example if you want to hide folder01 you would rename it .folder01 to see hidden files in nautilus, you have to press ctrl+h
