Ok i am reasonably new to Ubuntu and i cannot for the life of me work out how to get this working.

I installed java through add/remove, tried a few different ways people have said in the terminal.

Still no joy, it just says cannot load lobby.

If anyone knows how to do this could you please explain so a simpleton like me can understand it.

Thanks.

I think you mean how do you install the jre (java runtime environment):

In a terminal type:

sudp apt-get install sun-java6-jre

A terminal can be found in Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal

Hope that helps.

Ok then, what are you trying to do that requires java. :) Or are you literally trying to play party poker online? Because if so then i'll just goto that website and check it out and find the dependancies from there.

Are you interested only in party poker?

I am using the equally java based poker academy pro, version 2.5 (easy to find on the web both fully regged or also as trial version, as one prefers), which works perfectly well in wine... PROVIDED you use winecfg and CHANGE the setting of "windows version" to windows 98 or to windows XP, alternatively (else you'll get the infamous "client error:9: write: Bad file descriptor" wine failure).

My specs:
wine-1.0.1
2.6.27-7-generic
poker academy pro, version 2.5.7 build 197

Cheers!

Have you tried PokerStars? It works perfectly in Wine.
