What happens in place of the gdm login screen? Do you get a terminal, or black screen, or what? I don't know if I can help but there is not much information here.

What happens when it doesn't appear?

Be specific.

I'm login automatically anyway.
I get not root shell, black screen etc.
But why it's happening from the first place.

Thanks guys.

This sounds kind of basic, but I have a sleep and hibernate mode on my Ubuntu. And I get a different login if I awaken from hibernate or sleep.

maybe you selected too much gdms, and ubuntu is making it random every time you logon?
