Hello all. I live without an internet connection at home {somehow :)} and i'm trying to get help while i'm at work.

I've installed LAMP on my Ubuntu, the only problem i had was during the MySql but i think i worked it out.

if i run localhost in my browser, it says "it works" and I can run http://localhost/testphp.php and see all my info, but phpmyadmin doesn't work. is there anyway of seeing if mysql is running? with windows i had a real nice taskbar icon with all kinds of cool shortcuts, can i expect something like that for Ubuntu?

With the right commands, you won't need a fancy taskbar menu :)

Where did you unpackage the contents of the phpmyadmin folder?

hey, thanks for the quick response!

/home/calvin/LocalApps/lampp/phpmyadmin.

i've read one book on Ubuntu, so my terminal commands are still shaky.

i remember a GUI for mysql in firefox when i had wamp installed, how do i access that? i imagine that would be a good way of finding out if it's installed...
