I have 128 x2 and 64 x1 installed now, on a PIII 500 And I just discovered that I have a spare 256 stick lying around so I want to replace the 64 meg stick with this 256 meg stick. When I switch them out should I expect the ubuntu server 8.10 to recognize the switch automaticlly? Thanks

Memory detection is primarily a process of your motherboard's bios. Ubuntu will use whatever memory is detected by your hardware.

I would think that if your BIOS recognises your memory then Ubuntu would also.

oops sorry w4ett you got in ahead of me.

I figured so, but just had to ask. Thanks a lot for the kind replies.
