Attention MacBookPro 4,1 users. I have created a new wiki at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBookPro4-1/Intrepid for folks running Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid. Please check it out and make corrections and/or additions as needed.

as that's my model, i chose to correct some things. however, the iSight section states that it's necessary to get OSX's firmware. is that really necessary? i mean: my cam does work out-of-the-box since i installed Hardy without any additional tweaks. so what do those other 4,1 users think?

ciao,
Mario

Thanks for that.

You may be right about that. I can't remember, but it may have worked even before I did the firmware stuff.

They seemed to change the iSight hardware during the Macbook4,1 model. Some of them do not require firmware loading, others do. As far as I know, all MacbookAir machines and the new MacBook5,1 and MacBookPro5,1 all do not require firmware loading.
