Now that I see that Xubuntu 8.04 is no longer available in the Xubuntu PPC ports directory, is there anyone out there who has either installed it, or upgraded to it, and are getting any updates?

If you are getting updates, I wonder if you are actually getting any package updates specific to Xubuntu, or more specifically the XFCE4 packages?

I'm just wondering in case the situation has arisen that 8.04 for Xubuntu might only be serving as an upgrade jumping-off point straight into Intrepid for convenience if no packages for XFCE are actually coming down for 8.04.

If so, that's the shortest LTS I've ever seen. :)

For what its worth- I upgraded to 8.0.4 in gnome, then installed XFCE with

sudp apt-get install xubuntu-desktop

It works wonderfully!

Good deal - however have you gotten any further updates automatically, or by forcing it manually:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

I would think that a LARGE amount of packages would show up since 8.04's release. I'm wondering that even if packages show up, if any are for xfce4, which is what Xubuntu basically is.

That is what really worries me. The last time I tried Xubuntu 8.04, I was left hanging with an RC-candidate and no real announced release. Then I find that 8.04 Xubuntu is not even on the port repository anymore. weird!

I have installed the desktop but I have no idea if the updates I have gotten are for it or Ubuntu. In will start paying attention.
