OMG WHAT THEME IS THAT THAT'S AWESOME!!!

But I'm not exactly sure what to tell you. Is it the theme? I've had similar problems in ubuntu because of a faulty theme. It could be the text color is the same as the menu background, making it invisible for some reason.
