I was doing some tinkering trying to install the newest mythprime version, because I'm still having recording issues. Regardless, I'm still a total beginner to this stuff, so I really no clue what I did. I fiddled a bit in the terminal trying to install the new version, but couldn't, so I decided to restart and just forget it. Now when I restart, I get this:

/etc/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup...
13/12/2008 23:49:22 passing arg to libvncserver: -rfbauth
13/12/2008 23:49:22 passing arg to libvncserver: /root/.vnc/passwd
13/12/2008 23:49:22 passing arg to libvncserver: -rfbport

13/12/2008 23:49:22 To disable this behavior use: '-noxdamage'
13/12/2008 23:49:22
13/12/2008 23:49:22 XFIXES available on display, resetting cursor mode
13/12/2008 23:49:22 to: '-cursor most'.
13/12/2008 23:49:22 to disable this behavior use: '-cursor arrow'
13/12/2008 23:49:22 or '-noxfixes'.
13/12/2008 23:49:22 using XFIXES for cursor drawing.

13/12/2008 23:49:22 (induced by either user keystroke or mouse input).
13/12/2008 23:49:22 If this yields undesired behavior (poor response, painting
13/12/2008 23:49:22 errors, etc) it may be disabled via: '-noscr'

13/12/2008 23:49:22 If this makes the key mapping worse you can
13/12/2008 23:49:22 disable it with the "-noxkb" option.

Have you tried the x11vnc '-ncache' VNC client-side pixel caching feature yet?

The scheme stores pixel data offscreen on the VNC viewer side for faster
retrieval. It should work with any VNC viewer. Try it by running:

x11vnc -ncache 10 ...

Anyone have any insight on what this means? When I hit ok to clear the error message, my session ends and I'm at the login screen.

Thanks,

Patrick

Hi,

Could it be that you've got VNC setup? Could you try disabling it to see if a "bare" system work.

Ian Dobson

Yep did that, still getting the message.

My guess is that I did something to the way ubuntu starts, only on my MythTV session, the regular GNOME desktop starts no problem.

Any other thoughts? I'm getting so tired of having to fiddle with this every day just so I can record programs, please help.
