I've just created a DVD of audio files on my ubuntu music player, not realising that they would be saved as ogg files rather than mp3. I've sent this DVD to a friend of mine who has a Mac, will he be able to play these files and/or put them onto his ipod? What progamme does he need to use to make this work?

ogg will not play on an iPod (well, maybe with some 3rd party firmware like rockbox), but he can reencode the files to mp3 and import them into iTunes if he wants them on his iPod.

For playing ogg files on the mac itself, I really like VLC, which you can get in Intel, PowerPC, or universal binaries:

AND, if you like to listen to ogg streams on the mac, or on the ipod, try FStream found at your favorite mac repository or even on the itunes store. it also does mp3.
Keep on rocking with ogg!

I prefer to use The Cog (http://www.cogx.org/) when playing audio in OS X.
