Hi,everyone.
Tried to install vlc 0.9.8 but couldn't find a .deb package.
The .tar.bz2 package encountered an error and couldn't be installed.
Synaptic only provides 0.8.6.
Any ideas?
Thank you.

@ sdim

If you want latest version you have to compile it.Maybe this (http://wiki.videolan.org/UnixCompile) will help you.

Thanks for the answers.
I'm using Mint Elyssa,so,it doesn't include 0.9.6.
As for the compilation,I tried it but I ger errors and I'm not interested in installing a whole lot of other things just to install vlc.
Anyway, thanks to all for the answers.

On 22 Dec Christoph Korn added the VLC 0.9.8 build to his PPA (Personal Package Archive) here:

https://launchpad.net/~c-korn/+archive/

(sorry fancy titled URL linking doesn't work since "yahooapis" is blocked here)

On that page Christoph also mentions that:

"Latest VLC releases for intrepid can be found here:
http://archive.getdeb.net/dump/intrepid/vlc/ "

And in that archive you'll find the 0.9.8 build of VLC for Intrepid.

Good luck!
