I am using FTP and Remote Desktop to my Linux machine at home I am using Hamachi but when ever I try to download a file from my file server at home it takes forever to download is their a reason for this ?

This is a very generic question that could probably go into the busier main forum. But I think the answer is that ADSL connections (at least here in South Africa) typically have their download/upload bandwidth shared 70/30. This is so that downloads are nice and fast and comparatively rare uploads are slower. All encryption protocols also add overhead: SSH is pretty bad, Hamachi will have its cost too.

because your upload speed of your internet connection is not very large?
