Do you still think the open source software movement will create a big revolution?
The only reason I have trouble having an opinion is I'm not really in it. I'm pretty much tied to one operating system, the Macintosh, using it day in day out. I just favor the whole concept of open source as being a way that companies can be not entrapped by proprietary software. And one thing we do find is that anytime you're using something that's proprietary, you do wind up being pretty trapped, as much as they can trap you.

He says open source is a great thing but later says that he loves everything about the (proprietary) Macintosh operating system. I don't see why Apple doesn't release their Macintosh Classic and MacOSX operating systems as open source. If they did not only would it bring good publicity but it would result in alot more Mac users.
Even if they didn't open source it it's still their fault their OS isn't as popular as Windows. IBM created the PC. Than IBM decided that they could make more money if they licenced out the PC arcitecture out to other companies. Apple created the Macintosh but decided that they could make money by keeping the technology to themselves and forcing their users to be locked into their business. They were wrong.
Sorry if that came off as kind off a rant.

Pissed perhaps because he sees that Apple's software is typical proprietary software that leaves the user with little choice and are always lacking to some extent.

Their not gonna open the source, he said it himself Apple has put the company at risk many times in order to stick to their proprietary hardware/software, opening the source for the OS would be completely against what they stand for.
He bashes Apple because they are being like MS in a sense that what they are doing is telling people that this is how things are done and this is what we want you to do, rather than the original concept that he had, which he reflects with Apple II and Lisa, that the computer should be designed AROUND the user i.e. seeing what the user wants to do and how he/she wants to do it. I think he would also like to see a way to customize the interface for those who care enough to do it.
