Hi Gang

Has ANYONE managed to get LinPopUp to receive messages from the DOZE?

I can send messages TO both Linux and Winders boxes.
I can receive messages from all Linux boxes any flavor.
Cannot receive messages from Winders boxes.

Searched related messages for over two hours and have not found anyone who CAN yet! Not even the messages marked solved ever came to a conclusion.

Necessary lines are in smb.conf, dependencies are installed, etc.
File sharing works fine (I say that with tongue in cheek)!

Hi Getin

Yeppers, that's where I learned about it!

We had RealPopUp on most of our windows boxes, WinPop on a couple of the older ones.

I looked into OpenFire but it requires a server to run that.

I have all the dependencies necessary, on a LAN of 8 computers with file sharing between all of them.

It works great except for the fact it won't receive messages from the 2 Winders boxes and that's what we really needed it for.

Thanks Gettin

I've searched the web myself too and all I've found so far is NOBODY has got LinPopUp to receive messages from a Windows Box.

It works GREAT between all the Ubuntu boxes and works almost identical to RealPopUp, so I will keep it for now.

I'll just move on now and start looking for other intraLAN messengers to see if I stumble across one that works, and that I understand too, hi hi........

There is a LinPoPup (not LinPopUp although spelled the same, where those capital letters are make a difference in which version it is. One is called Lin Po Pup the other Lin Pop Up), also KPopUp and Kopete I haven't tried yet because they were not in the repositories.

But, once again that will be on the sidelines. Some hardware I needed came via UPS today so I will be able to work on my file server, after I get some REAL work done around here, hi hi......

I'm going to mark this solved so it scrolls down and outta sight until I try some other things!
