I put Ubuntu 8.1 on my old powerbook G4. Totally wiped everything out, it's all ubuntu, no mac.
Works great, but I'm trying to get wireless internet working with it in my house.
Here's the info I have.
I'm using an old Linksys Wireless-G Notebook Adapter. It's 2.4 GHz 802.11 g, whatever that means.
I put it in Ubuntu and the lights all light up and Ubuntu gives me all the wireless options, so I'm pretty sure the drivers are all there and working.
We have wireless internet from frontiernet.net
On the page with all the internet information, there is-

a Wireless SSID
a Passphrase
a Security Type (128 bit Wep)
a Security Key

at the bottom of the page with all of this is

Log into modem:
then under that I have an IP address
a username
and a password

Our wireless network doesn't show up, but I've tried everything I can think of under the hidden wireless network option. When I tell it to connect it says it's now disconnected. Is this because I'm using a Powerbook? Do I need more information about my internet?

Can someone please step by step walk me through setting up the internet?
Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I just realized there is an internet section on the site. I probably should have posted this there.
