How do i use the Xaw3D client for freeciv?

When i trie to run it it says: "0: Didn't manage to open font: -*-*-*-*-*--14-*"

You don't want the Xaw3D-version of freeciv running. Do yourself a favour and use the GTK version - really.
The Xaw widget is just a graphic library that was standard, before GTK (GNOME) and QT (KDE) were created. Nowadays it just looks outdarted (or better ancient). The "3d" in the name refers to the button style, which isn't flat anymore but has a more plastic look, like it's standard today.

Using that client your freeciv would look like this:
