i tried to install ubuntu-lite-desktop...
now whenever i try to do something with apt i get the code below....
also it says i need to do "dpkg --configure -a" but when i try to do that the computer just locks up (usually at configuring bittornado) and i have to turn it off and back on (cant even reboot) so i thought i would try purging the packages it locks up on or try purging ubuntu-lite-desktop but none of these have fixed my problem!! how can i get this package to go away like before i tried to install it??? please help!

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
root@slasheru:/home/herot # dpkg --purge
dpkg: --purge needs at least one package name argument

Type dpkg --help for help about installing and deinstalling packages ;
Use `dselect' or `aptitude' for user-friendly package management;
Type dpkg -Dhelp for a list of dpkg debug flag values;
Type dpkg --force-help for a list of forcing options;
Type dpkg-deb --help for help about manipulating *.deb files;
Type dpkg --licence for copyright licence and lack of warranty (GNU GPL) .

Options marked produce a lot of output - pipe it through `less' or `more' !

A shot in the dark, but...

Have you tried using sudo dpkg --configure -a in a regular terminal instead of dpkg --configure -a in a root terminal? It may not make a difference, but it's worth a shot.

could you explain why that would matter?? (just curious) I just know that sometimes root and sudo behave a little bit differently in Ubuntu. It probably won't make a difference, but when something isn't working, you'll try just about anything, just in case--at least that's what I usually do.

ok well the sudo thing didn't work... any other ideas? Nope. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than I am will step in. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
