View Full Version : [ubuntu] Netgear WPN 111 USB Ndiswrapper and Synaptic woes

I am completely new to Linux and bought the current copy of Computer Active with a Linux 'how to', plus a Ubuntu 8.10 disk on it.

I have installed the system alongside Windows XP on my 2.8ghz system

I have a Netgear WPN 111 USB gadget which accesses the net via broadband.

I cannot get this to work with my Ubuntu as yet.

I have googled this and downloaded what I hope is ndiswrapper-1.53.tar (though it is only 193kilobytes.)

However I dont seem to be able no matter what I do to get the recommended synaptic programme to even recognise this programme.

I can drag and drop it onto the search box at the top but it dosent seem to allow me to do anything further than that.
and what is meant by Driver Disk - do I need the original Windows disk for ndiswrapper to work properly??

Any help to get this up and running would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
