The Case of 2.6.14.3 and the Missing CD-ROM Drive

I have built a custom kernel on vanilla 2.6.14.3 sources, and everything seems OK, except my CD-ROM isn't being recognized.

I am on Breezy.

For a .config I started with the stock 2.4.12 Breezy version, and took the defaults for all the oldconfig questions.

Suggestions?
