-41 C? that's **cold**. I can't even imagine cold like that. It's -2 C here when I go to work in the morning, and that's plenty cold enough for me, thanks!

6 degrees Celcius overhere.
But we had a terrible winter storm 2 weeks ago and I had to be outside for 45 minutes.
Result? Flu, Pneumonia (hope I spelled that correctly?) and I sprained a rib from sneezing.
Been home for almost a week now feeling VERY sick.

It's 28F where I am. I think it's already too cold, but it usually doesn't reach the peak of winter until about January/February.

+5 farenheit here in Minneapolis this morning...we've been hovering at zero all week.
WonderingJew, how did you do that with your terminal? Is that really your terminal, or just part of the desktop background?

There's a HOWTO in the forum on how to make transparent terminals...
Anyway, it's 7 degrees F here, and I just spent the last hour (taking my snow day time!) shoveling the driveway...and I was really happy to get back to my Ubuntu... :D
I say that driveways need to be heated, so that the snow will melt from the driveway, but the yard will be nice as snowy.

I have a transparent terminal, but it doesn't look like that. Maybe I should turn the opacity down? (sorry, no screenshot, I'm at work)

I used Wolki's devilspie howto found here
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=75749&highlight=devilspie
and just played with it until it did what I wanted... im using gnome-terminal and played with those preferences a bit too... if you need me to be more exact I can be but If I can figure it anybody can :P
one strange thing is that I have to have two instances of devilspie running to make it work...

Thats frosty, especially this time of year; or is that normal for you?
Around here it can reach -55C with wind. But that only happens in
Feb. and only for a few days.

I'd actually have to say its fairly normal to have a cold snap like this about this time of year.... generally though we've gotten most of our snow in march but it can be this cold anytime in between october and april and colder in january/febuary and most people won't find it unusual (not only do I live in wyoming I live at 7200 ft above sea level). It won't stay like this for more than a week or so generally, and will probably be back in the 40's next week by all accounts... its just when its cold its really cold.
I whined about this elsewhere on the forum but the first weekend of this last june we had one hell of a snowstorm that broke tree branches that in turn broke power lines and did various damage to homes and cars... theres been some years I've seen at least a little bit of snow every single month.
