I had "inherited" an computer at work running Kubuntu. I ran the Adept Updater because there was a huge list of outdated packages. It indicated a new version, so I upgraded to Ubuntu 8.04.1. Ever since that my screen has been offset to the right just more than one inch. The resolution is the unchanged.

I have a Dell 1400x900 monitor.

I tried using xvidtune, as recommended by other forums, but it results in a error: "Invalid Mode Requested: That is not possible or not supported by your hardware configuration"

I had tried some advice from forums to change my driver on the System Settings >> Monitor & Display >> Hardware. It has defaulted to "VESA driver (generic)" and I had tried others but didn't know which to try, none of them worked.

Please let me know what other information I need to give,

thanks in advance,

Use th pyysical buttons on the monitor itself to adjust the picture. It has nothing to do with video settings in the OS, most likely.
