I've been accessing cisco routers via hyperterminal in windows, and am seeking an equivalent that will run in Linux. Does anyone know of a good piece of software? I'm running Ubuntu 8.04.

cu -l ttyS0 -38400 --nostop

What will that command do?

Try gtkterm, that's what I've used. It's pretty much like hyperterminal.

Okay, I just installed gtkterm but I can't find it. It's not in the internet menu. Where does it install at?

Hit alt-f2 and type gtkterm. I'm not using GNOME, so I couldn't tell you for sure where it's at.

Thanks! I'll be trying it out on cisco equipment monday. Anything in particular I need to know to run it?

Not really, if I recall correctly the default parameters work fine with cisco gear.
