I have recently had issue with getting bluetooth to work.

The output from dmesg is
[ 29.021115] Bluetooth: Core ver 2.13
[ 29.025066] NET: Registered protocol family 31
[ 29.025082] Bluetooth: HCI device and connection manager initialized
[ 29.025091] Bluetooth: HCI socket layer initialized
[ 29.111321] Bluetooth: L2CAP ver 2.11
[ 29.111335] Bluetooth: L2CAP socket layer initialized
[ 29.163613] Bluetooth: RFCOMM socket layer initialized
[ 29.170068] Bluetooth: RFCOMM TTY layer initialized
[ 29.170082] Bluetooth: RFCOMM ver 1.10
[ 29.177553] Bluetooth: SCO (Voice Link) ver 0.6
[ 29.177569] Bluetooth: SCO socket layer initialized
[ 29.241693] Bluetooth: BNEP (Ethernet Emulation) ver 1.3
[ 29.241710] Bluetooth: BNEP filters: protocol multicast

Which suggests it should work, but hcitool scan
tim@tim-laptop:~$ hcitool scan
Device is not available: No such device

????????????????????????

So I bought a belkin bluetooth 2.0 usb stick and bingo all is well.

I wonder why on one hand it appears to be there and configured but on the other, it doesn't exist?

Running 8.10 on an Acer Aspire 9301AWSMi
