I use SecondLife to create my own local grid (Virtual Worlds) on my own PC. So I do not connect anywhere else. But since about a month ago, something changed in my Ubuntu 8.04 which is causing a major performance degradation when using SecondLife now. It feels like a terrible lag even with all options set to absolute low settings. I used to run with everything maxed out.
The only changes made on my PC when it started is doing Ubuntu updates. Nothing else. I know I had seen some updates related to fglrx (or something) in the past 3-4 weeks.
What updates could cause this?
Is it reversable/fixable ?
Anyone else having the same issue ?
Even if I connect to any exteral grid, I still have the same problem. It makes it impossible to work with SecondLife (toooooo slooooooowwwwww).
I do not use any Desktop special effects. It is a plain ordinary Desktop.
